The Present Continuous:
The Present Continuous is also known as Present Progressive.
Present Continuous and Present Progressive are the same.
Usage:
- To show an action in progress. It is happening now.
Examples: I am writing a mini-lesson now. They are reading a mini-lesson (now).
- To show a future plan.
Examples: I am making dinner tonight. (tonight is in the future) She is going to Cambodia next month.

Spelling note:
- If the base word ends in an “e”, drop the “e” and add “ing”
Examples: take → taking bake → baking
- If the verb is one syllable and it is a C-V-C sequence, double the last consonant.
Examples: hit → hitting sit → sitting
