One of the most common mistakes of constructing sentences is the use of "I"and "ME."The following two sentences are both correct:
(1) Michelle and I will take the books to class.
(2) The argument was between Cindy and me.
In sentence (1), "Michelle and I"are the subjects of the verb (action) "will take." Sentence (2) is correct because "me" serves as the object of the preposition "between."
If you are unsure which to use, here is a very helpful hint: take out either the "I"or the "ME"(or pronoun) from the sentence and see if it still makes sense. For example:
(1) Michelle and I will take the books to class
- Michelle will take the books to class.
- I will take the books to class.
- WRONG: Michelle and me will take the books to class OR Me will take the books to class.
(2) The argument was between Cindy and me.
- The argument was between Cindy…
- The argument was between me…
- WRONG: The argument was between Cindy and I. OR The argument was between I…
