CURRENT EVENTS
Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a great 2008. It seems as though 2008 went very quickly. For this newsletter I thought I'd talk about things going on in the U.S. Of course, the big news around the world is the economy. I hope that you, your friends and/or family are staying positive and hopeful through these tough times. I know several people who have been affected by the downturn in the economy and have been laid off. Although this may not be the bottom, the economy has a way of bouncing back and things will go back up.
Conversely, those that have not been affected by it can look at this as a great opportunity. Rates and prices are very low right now in the housing market and homes are once again affordable. Loan requirements are strict, as they should be, but they are just getting back to what they used to be. So, those who can really afford homes will be chosen to receive a loan.
The other important news right now is the inauguration of Barrack Obama. The swearing-in occurred on Tuesday, January 20. There is certain praise about how his election to the office is a historic event. He is the first African American U.S. president. There is no doubt that he will bring forth change to the country. However, rather than being such a historic event, I look at Barrack Obama as being the right man for the job. Whether he is African American, White, Latino or Asian does not matter to me. I am excited!
